Activity Providers in the area can offer a range of activity days for the absolute beginner as well as the more experienced enthusiast. The Brecon Beacons National Park's main offerings are mountain biking, canoeing, cycling, climbing, abseiling, caving, horse riding or gorge walking.

Archery is offered by Absolute Adventure (see above) or there are 'have a go' sessions at Llancaich Fawr on Bank Holiday weekends

Boats - lakeside-holidays - rowing or sailing on beautiful Llangorse Lake.

Bowling - at Brecon Leisure Centre.

Canal Trips - Dragonfly Cruises - daily canal cruises on The Monmouth & Brecon Canal throughout the summer (15 minutes from here)

Canoeing - Wye Valley Canoes - on the Usk and Wye. Canadian canoes & kayaks can be by the day. Instruction is available.

Caving - local caves can be explored with qualified instructors (see above)

Clay Pigeon Shooting - Woodland Park Shooting Ground - Why not try out this exciting activity and experience the thrill of hitting your first clay? Woodland Park Shooting Ground, 10 minutes from Brecon, offers a whole range of clay shooting events and activities in a safe and professionally run environment. Our 'Give-it-a-Try' sessions include basic instruction, gun hire, eye and hearing protection, cartridges, clays and refreshments. Family and small groups most welcome - ages from 12 years. To book a session please call John Butland (CPSA shooting coach) on: 078 111 89413. Ground open: 10am-5pm Monday-Friday; 10am-4pm Saturday; closed Sundays.

Climbing - Llangorse Multi Activity Centre - indoor climbing and activity centre, as well as many outdoor sites. Black Mountain Activities have a high level rope and climbing wall and The Welsh International Climbing Centre is just over the Beacons.

Cycling - Cycle Brecon Beacon - There are plenty of local cycle hire centres & bikes can be delivered to Glynmeddig (Bikes and hikes). Guided rides can be booked or there are organised rides for different abilities to join throughout the Summer. We are close to the Taff Trail and the Sustrans Route 8

Fishing - Wye Usk Foundation - salmon or trout fishing on the River Usk or reservoirs. There is also reservoir fishing at Pontsticill, Merthyr Tydfil - Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association

Gliding - Black Mountains Gliding Club - Come & soar over the spectacular scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Tuition to all levels is provided by Fully Qualified Instructors.

Golf - Cradoc Golf Club - there is stunning golf course at Cradoc only 20 minutes away & Brecon has a 9-hole course as well.

Gorge walking / scrambling - see the list of activity providers at the top of this page. The Brecon Beacons National Park has dramatic gorges for this exhilarating sport.

Hang gliding - The South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club - Take off from the hills above Abergavenny, Hay-on-Wye and the stunning Senni Valley. Tuition and day courses available.

Horse riding - Cantref Adventure Farm, Riding Centre - Cantref's guided rides take you up into the Brecon Beacons and there are other local riding & trekking centres throughout the National Park.

Mountain biking - Mountain Biking Brecon Beacons - There are plenty of 'off road' routes in the Brecon beacons and surrounding area & local bike hire is available - Bikes can be delivered to Glynmeddig (Bikes and Hikes )

Mountain boarding - Penpont - Because snow melts, dirt doesn't - The Greenman Mountainboard Centre at Penpont provides riders of all abilities with a safe place to ride!

Paintballing - Taff Valley Quad Bike & Activity Centre - A trip down the South Wales valleys for this fun day out!

Paragliding - The South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club - Tuition and day courses available.

Quad Biking - Taff Valley Quad Bike & Activity Centre

Sailing - Lakeside Holidays on Llangorse Lake & Pontsticill reservoir or with The Merthyr Tydfil Sailing Club.

Surfing - only an hour away on the Gower Peninsula (Enjoy Gower). Call PJ's Surf hire to find out what the waves are doing before you set out! (PJ's Surf Shop)

Tennis - Play on the all weather tennis court at Glynmeddig

Walking - Brecon Beacons Park Society - Walks Programme

There is abundant opportunity for stunning walks and rambles both meandering or more demanding. Guided walks are organised throughout the year in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Maps and guides are available at Glynmeddig Bunkhouse. We have had three walks mapped on footpaths from the bunkhouse door.

If the Licensing Authority is satisfied that the provider complies with nationally accepted standards of good practice they issue a licence. We have only listed activity providers who hold the relevant license for their area of expertise.
